The importance of literature and literacy (school)

The importance of literature and literacy

Garret Knox

Literature it can be so much more then reading a book or an inspiring quotes. It can take you around the world and back all from sitting on your couch. All by reading books, articles, magazines the list is endless. But does that really make it important? To some maybe to others maybe not to me it all depends on what it is and how real it is to me.

Books can take you where ever and coolest of all when ever. I just find it to be ever so fascinating on how you can just read about battles of the Spartans or battles about how dragons are being slayed. It can be as if you are there with them seeing them right before your eyes fighting an epic battle or having an epic love story. Either way it can be amazing if you can rap yourself around all of it.

What makes good literature? For some it might be that it’s a fantasy world of craziness or that it’s down to earth and real. For me it needs to be from the heart then and only then can you truly see the author’s intentions of the story or what ever it may be. When it comes from the heart it truly has meaning and it makes you feel or really get into the literature.

Now to ask is literature important? I would say yes it is to those who want to enhance their knowledge of the world, history, people and their statement’s of the world or whatever it just might be. Literature is also just something that you can read and escape from the world or your problems or maybe sometimes its nice to read about someone else who’s going through the exact same thing as you because reading it, it can give you hope or strength to get through the hard times. Those are just minor reasons why it is important to take advantage of reading whatever you can enjoy.
